B. B. King Es ampliamente considerado uno de los músicos de blues más influyentes de todos los tiempos, recibiendo el apodo de «Rey del Blues» y el sobrenombre de «uno de los tres reyes (kings) de la guitarra blues» junto a Albert King y Freddie King. Según Edward M. Komara, King «introdujo un sofisticado estilo de solos basados en fluidas cuerdas [de guitarra] estiradas y brillantes vibratos que influirían prácticamente en todos los guitarristas de blues eléctrico que le siguieron». King tuvo una gran influencia en el aspecto musical y social sobre el cantante Elvis Presley habiéndose conocido y desarrollado una amistad en los pubs de Beale Street en Memphis a principios de los años 50.
